Christians are not currently being persecuted in Syria, but the Church in the country is nevertheless cautious: this is the assessment of the Archbishop of Homs, Jacques Mourad, as reported by the aid organisation "Aid to the Church in Need" in Munich on Tuesday. Church services and processions could take place unhindered, the archbishop said at an online press conference organised by the aid organisation. The new government has also made many conciliatory gestures towards Christians and other religious minorities. However, there are very different regional regulations and nobody wants to incur the displeasure of the new leaders.
